Response to Mr. Burck!

Good Morning Mr. Burck,

I am sure about my invitation, and look forward to seeing you and your date at our opening. I assume you will be wearing matching Larry Mahan hats. My straw hat that you mentioned, was bought at Jimmy’s Western in Ardmore, Oklahoma for the princely sum of $35.00.

Best wishes,

JRN II

Who do I contact to obtain information on bidding on the Hat and Coat Check concession for this engagement.

There you go Wade,
Tulsa or Dallas are your nearest airports. I can probably come get you, if need be. For your special appearance, I am having my Resistol Hacienda Silverbelly cleaned and shaped. I do hope you make it, I feel a good time will be had by all. If you cannot, I understand as well. After all, it is about time to start loading up for Evansville again.

JRN II,
Actually it would have been sombreros, but she isn't here yet, as we are having trouble with paperwork. I met her in Tepec this winter, and would have liked for you to have met her. Can I bring some kid's from the neighborhood instead? If that's alright can we use the free child's passes. I need to run up to Al's Liquor's and get some before the show. We only need 6 popcorn's, because Suzie only eat's dorito's. Robert and Brittiny want to know if you give award's at your circus, and if they can be the one's to pick?(I think they like Casey Canine the best.)
Thank's and we will look forward to it. We are going to take Greyhound, instead of flying. Make sure Casey know's. Also tell him not to bring that old pickup. Mary Lou has dust allergy's and can't ride in the back.

Addendem to Casey,
Didn't you hear about Evansville? Send them your birth certificate and lowest price. That ship you have been waiting for all this time, has docked Good luck, if you sign, you can probably use it as leverage next year when JRN II want's to resign you. I promise it is more impressive on a resume, then 5 years on CM.

5 years,,,,,
Come on Wade, no changing history. I served 13 years on the Mighty C&M. I am shooting for longevity being worth more on my resume, then an occasional "fluke" date. I do appreciate the info though, and will send birth certificate pronto. I will hold off till the other 5 cat acts bid to give my price though. I am sure I can do it for less then I want and more then they want to pay...

To Casey: Who is the mighty C&M you are reffering to?

Mr. Herriot
C&M is in reference to Culpepper & Merriweather.I throw the "mighty" in there for comic relief. I spent most of my life on either C&M or Franzen Bros. Both shows were very good to me. Unlike Wade, I am more fond of a one ring mudshow,,,then 200 mile overnight jumps to big coliseums in the snow. However, now that I have animals that don't do rides, we don't turn down much of anything (building, tent, mall parking lot open air show) I must give alot of credit to the guys who do the building shows, it is a much more chaotic life then a mudshow. I never knew till this past year, having only made a few indoor dates for Donnie and Hubler in the previous years.

Don't think I have forgotten about you, friend. I have been trying to respond since I tipped you off about Evansville, but I guess I was "unseemly". Sometimes it is hard to follow a story, and thing's get misunderstood, when chapter's are burned. I never said I "didn't" like one ring tent shows. I have disagreed when the argument is big, beautiful, and grand. As I have suggested to you, and you have apparently found out, for animal's, a tent show, particularly a one ring affair is the easiest situation in which to work. Same thing inside, same surface, same stable area, same situation day in and day out. Nothing much changes, similiar to winterquarters with music, light's and people.

P.S. Henry Edger, my friend. Those are examples of "intangibles". They are entered into any discussion
of who is the best, or who deserves inclusion into the Hall.
