The James M. Cole circus was based in Penn Yan, New York in the 40's and 50's. The son of the owner, Jim(Sonny)Cole was billed as the youngest elephant trainer. He went to high school in Penn Yan, graduating in 1957.

The James M. Cole circus was based in Penn Yan, NY in the 1940's and 50's. Jimmy Cole's son, Jim(Sonny) was featured as an elephant trainer on the Sealtest Big Top show sometime in the 50's as an elephant trainer. He graduated from HS in Penn Yan in 1957.

What ever became of Sonny Cole?? Never remember him being around his father's mid-winter school dates in upstate New York (of course, given how cold it was, who would! I remember how cold some trailer floors could be).
