Kenneth Feld is quoted as saying, "When Buckles came on the show, he brought with him the toughest, rowdiest, most difficult bunch of outlaws I ever employed!" So I get a bit of personal satisfaction knowing that today his most reliable elephant people come from their number including Ted Svertesky who prior to his death in the 1994 train wreck, had been promoted to boss elephant man.
Buckles, Was it you or Ted who decided that I must have been a man of principal to forgo my winter pay at the Big Apple Circus, so my son Dane could be born in Florida and not in New York City. Elaine and I always enjoyed our visits with Ted and Patti on our winter run back into Florida. I remember you, Jim Elliot and myself going to Orlando after the accident; and I miss Ted to this day, a great guy with a great sense of humor, and one who cared for the elephants in his charge. Who is the helper?
James "Chico" Williams who is now in charge of the K&N Elephant Stud Farm.
