Regarding the 1949 Dailey Bros. Circus picture.

Buckles,
Wouldn't this have been a hard pull for two young elephants, or was it done for publicity photos?

"I pulled the peaks on this 120' top with James Bros. Circus using a single elephant "Ellie" and a small team "Juno" and "Sid" and then took them inside and went up with the quarter poles.
The two little guys when combined, weighed over 2,000 pounds and could comfortably handle a pretty good load but more importantly it gave them exposure to the noise, excitement and the flapping canvas.
A rolling wagon on a hard lot wouldn't be much different from this but of course a truck buried in the mud is another story."

Buckles,
When I handled the tent for Uncle Sid, Sue(Sid) and Jackie(Juno) were used for the harness work. Lovie(named after Sid's wife) was the third of this trio. Sue was then the lead elephant. What became of Ellie, as she was gone by time I arrived on the scene in 1973?
Great photos of the Dailey Bros herd. Derrick Rosaire and I always got a big kick out of Corky Plunkett saying "Back on the Dailey show..."!

Happy Birthday Norma!

"Ellie" wound up with Roller Bros. and was electrocuted when the center pole she was pulling up made contact with with an overhead electrical cable.
The bull man was killed too, Merikesh?.
