Gold Unit, with 2 elephants great what a waste of P zerbini, saw her with the Krone elephants great they should place her on the blue unit and give her 10 elephants. The we would all see something.

Headpieces hastily covered with fabric must be a trend. Any guess as to what's underneath - too small to be the GSOE disks

I saw Patty work both the Krone herd (five, I think) and also a single. I'd like to comment on the single routine.

The spot came up on a child asleep in a bed in the front of the ring, holding a toy elephant- obviously dreaming of the circus. Softly lit with blue, with appropriate music and fog, the routine begins; Patty entered at the back with the elephant who does all the basics while Patty did the most beautiful, graceful mounts you could ever imagine- as the child, who's now awake, watches in awe. At the end, Patty took the child's hand, and exited the ring with the child on one side, the elephant on the other.... as though at first she'd entered the child's dream, then finally taken the child into hers.

I didn't tell it very well, but let me say you'd have to be made of stone not to get choked up watching this unique presentation.

I don't know who thought this up, or how many times it's been done, but it was so touching and elegant- the crowd loved it. So did I.

Every so often an act comes along with that bit of extra that makes it just great and that is what I saw last year with Luke and Patty on the Gold Unit. I have no idea whether it was Patty or the show that decided to eliminate that offering and go with a regular two elephant act, but it is a shame as its center ring feature on any circus in the world.

Over the years I recall some great Single O elephant acts such as Jenda and Tonya, Ben and Anna Mae, Pom Pom and Baby Mike on Polack and certainly Patti and Luke.

I am not enamoured with the "split" routine, but it seems to have great favor in Europe. Too me it seems if you have a couple of old elephants that can no longer do other things it still gives them a presence and the talent is in the person in being able to do a split. In Patty's case those are both well trained elephants, so it surprises me that she would have that in their repitore. But maybe it is audience appealing but its not a "trainers trick".

I can envision incoporating the zebra when it is trained to be part of her a Luke's act similar to the leopard with Anna Mae. Max Gruber had a great single O elephant named Eva that performed with a Zebra and Great Dane dog. So anyway I think they missed the boat by not keeping just Patty and Luke, a great combination as they compliment each other. Great acts are rare.
