I'm sure K&N were keen on this one until they realized that it required ring curb and was thus a step backwards in the reinvention process.
For some reason US circuses no longer try for spectacular animal acts like this.
YouTube has a video of Cassely presenting their elephants as a riding act on the German TV equivalent of our old Circus of the Stars (“Stars in der Manege”) presented at the Krone building in Munich. The guest performers are Joey Kelly and his wife Tanja Niethen Kelly, a singer and dancer in her own right. Kelly’s American parents moved to Spain in the 1960s and worked as street performers doing musical numbers. Now a multi-generational singing family based in Europe, they have garnered considerable success in Germany and other countries and their albums have sold millions. As a musical group, they have also worked with Circus Roncalli. Besides his musical career, Joey Kelly is a professional triathlete and marathon runner having participated in many Ironman events.
The video of the act can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFy14DkXRsQ&feature=related

This is almost a pachydermatic version of Ducrow's "Courier of St. Petersburg." Some American circuses did a variety of animal races to close out the show in the 1880s and you'd have seen something like this, but perhaps with only two bulls, on the hippodrome track, where there were also hurdles for the animals to navigate.
The thing that impressed me most about "Stars in der Manege", & it can be seen at the end of this video, when the "star" takes their final bow, the circus performer is by their side. Our "Circus of the Stars" seldom gave the Circus Acts any credit at all.
Thanks for sharing the link, but unfortunately it seems to be down... Does anybody have a mirror or another source? Please answer to my post if you do!
I would appreciate if a staff member here at bucklesw.blogspot.com could post it.
Thanks,
