What a sad commentary on what happens to old show vehicles. When the big King Show was in it's last season they left so many vehicles over their route, that they were using locally hired dump trucks to carry the seat lumber and many other items. Too bad that they didn't have a good dedicated mechanis to fix up the trucks. Of course I realize that it takes a lot of money to keep anything on the road. Bob Kitto
A question for the board. WHY exactly did the Mills Bros. throw in the towel after the 1966 season? I know that Jack stayed in the promotions biz for a few years after that. But after so many successful seasons the brothers had it has always been a mystery.
It was the departure of Howard Ahrhart, mainmost booking agent, who could sell the grand a day contract to potential sponsors. He jumped ship and put DR Millers operations back in the black. Without him they could not come up with a route filled in.
