Being all new steel wagons,they had bull rings on top of the gunnel of the flat car to run a chain back up to the mud ring on the wagons. With wooden wagons most shows would run the chain thur the spokes of the wheel,then to the front of the flat. This would have saved alot of time in the dark when you loaded up at night.
Notice the build date of the flat being 3-38,all brand new stuff.
