This is a classic example of why people should always label and date their pictures. All that plumbing in the foreground must have been for the "Dancing Waters". |

We first met Josip on Atayde in the Winter of '79-'80 & I believe he had just come from Tihany. Could be wrong!
Josip has a video of this act that he has shown me a couple of times. When he took these elephants over he said that he was not that experienced with elephants, but it is obvious that he did a great job. He also was responsible for moving them from city to city, even on barges or ships with difficult loading maneuvers, and pointed out some unique and humane innovations that he came up with to get the job done. We know of his excellence in perfection of his wild animal training and it carries thru in his elephant presentation. Very impressive and I salute you Josip.
I believe Josip remarked that a couple of them were pretty "snappy" as well.
i LIKE THE GIRLS WARDROBE MUCH BETTER IN THIS ACT THAN THAT OF "BO".And it is obvious that they were doing more than just "styling" the act.
An aside to all you fine trainers out there that have had the rare privelege of working with the "Great Marcan". I am sure that those elephants soon understood the vocabulary that Josip would use in voice commands in his animal training exploits. Lou Regan also had some "quaint" expressions as well. I guess I should shut up while I am ahead. What is the Pot doing calling the Kettle Black.
Is this Col. Herriott, or some other Johnny? The Col. is knowledgeable enough to know that a few were "sappy" and not "snappy". Or maybe it was just a typo? Wade Burck
Wade, old buddy and amigo, if there is ANYBODY who knows ANYTHING about being a SAP, it's.......well, I don't want to hurt your fragile feelings.....see you at The Pride of Indiana!
I worked for Josip when he was at a safari park in Peurto Rico around 1973 &74 He trained a group of 5 little asian elephants there also. I understand that they later went to Carson & Barnes I believe Buckles picked them up in Miami & delivered them to Hugo. Would anyone be able to fill me in on their history or names from that time forward. It was a group of 2 males and 3 females. They were approximately 3 to 5 years then making them in their late thirties now.

Col. They were doing more than just "styling"??....Damn..you mean they worked a "Blowoff"??...How come I am always the last one to be clued in on these things??...Sincerely, A day late and a Dollar short Zajicek
James C. Hall & Dr. Ben Sobel,
Check out Zajicek's poste. We have to make sure he has excess to one of us around the clock. I don't think he is ready to be on his own yet. Either that, or we have to get another gun. I can't load the old one fast enough.

The topic; the "Cardenettes".
The young ladies, the last time I saw the show, did four turns and had different garb on in each.
Also, if any body recalls, the Tihany gals do not wear that out fit in the ballroom number,And yes still a thumbs up for the Carden wardrobe dept
James C. Hall doesn't know his "show broad's" very well, which is something I have alway's tried to stay on "top" of. The lovely ladies is is refering to are called the "Georgettes".

NOT CARDENETTES.....GEORGE-ETTS.....
