Yes, even when I met him in his late sixties, Slim towered over me.
I try to remember that when I look at the old pictures of him next to "Tusko".

Richard Reynolds asks - -

Was Slim Lewis actually on the 1929 Barnes show when Black Diamond killed that lady in Corsicana?

His book (both versions) certainly read as though he was an eye witness. However, it seems that the Barnes payroll records for 1929 (at CWM) do not list anyone who can be identified as Slim. If Slim was not there, then he must have gotten the “eye witness” account from the bull guys who were on the scene.

Also there is some question whether Tusko was on the road with Barnes in 1929. An item in Buckles’ records says Tusko was back in quarters in 1929. But Slim’s book claims that Tusko was right there in the street in Corsicana when the terrible incident took place.

When this photo was taken I believe B. Diamond’s skull was in the Houston zoo. It was on display there and I wonder if it still is. Today, zoos do not go for that sort of thing.

Haven't looked for it in a while, but the Houston zoo always had this type of display. The giraffe house also had a large display of skulls for teaching. Perhaps because of the large group of medical schools close to the zoo.
