Louis Roth was on loan from Barnes, and was the first to put 18-year-old Clyde Beatty on a cage crew. When Roth's work was done, he returned to Al. G. and Guilfoyle was Beatty's boss. The ambitious young man joined out on August 16, in Washington Court House, Ohio.
