Well that is Franklin
We all trouped together in 1949 with Big Bob Stevens' Robbins Bros.
There was an older brother Marcus, Franklin and I were about the same age, then came Myrna, Melvin and Jimmy in diapers.
I remember Brownie, Markus, franklin, Melvin, jimmy and joey
On little Bob Steaven' show 63-64?

looking at that photo again if the year is right 61 I thought Melvin was around at least 20 or more as he was going with B.Kay when I was around him on the greater Sells Bros in 63 or 64 I did not know a Billy however the rider looks to be 12 or so ?
My God Jimmy! If your calculations are correct, Col. Mel is now a Senior Citizen!
Robert "Little Bob" Stevens had Stevens Bros. Circus out from 1946-1952
Little Bob Stevens was partnered with Bill Griffith (Adams Bros. and later Birnum Bros.) in the early 60's for a couple of years.
I wish Myrna was here to help identify the photo, but I only see her every few years. I'll take it over to show Grandma Ruby and Harry Haag Jr. Maybe they can help identify the mystery Silverlake.
Melvin was 20 back in 1961 and Franklin would have been 28 years old.
Buckles -- I've shown this photo to my father......we both send our regards by the way. He has no idea who the kid is in the picture. Col. Mel was definitely in the Air Force at that time. But, yes, that is Uncle Franklin. There was no Billy Silverlake in the family other than Great Grandpa Archie's wife. ---- Brad
Franklin Reminded me of Lee Marvin's character in that movie Paint Your Wagon.I recall him buying a Chev, truck with three axle a straight job, the same style cab in Photo #4 that he pulled a Spartan house trailer with. He paid me five dollars to clean and paint the wheels on his new purchase I was sure rolling in big bucks than. Also he had an old mackac monkey that would sit on a gear head stake and smoke the cigarette stogies that Franklin would give her right down till it would burn its fingers us kids would sure get a kick out of that.I learned to splice rope on that show. Little Bob would give me 25, cents per rope on the guy out ropes on the big top, also I learned and got paid to baseball stitch on that old rag/top on the Sells Bros show He had out. Some fond memories indeed.
Billy Bradley was the kid. Franklin was my father who is not with us any longer, I asked my mom since we were there when I was less than a year old if she remembered when the picture was taken and she knew who it was as soon as she saw it. I hope this helps.

I showed the photo to Harry Haag Jr and he confirmed that this was Franklin Silverlake.
