I think this wagon (or possibly its dupe) was displayed for years in the Harry Hertzberg collection in the old San Antonio Public Library.
I have no idea where it is now that the city geniuses decided that accepting property "in perpetuity" simply meant until no one was around to enforce your original agreement. I understand most of this invaluable trove was simply boxed and stored- can someone update this?
Be a cold day in hell before the undersigned leaves anything to some government agency.
The wagon is still with the Hertzberg materials. The Witte Museum has just completed a new storage facility and all of their collections, including the Hertzberg items, are being transfered to it. The collection is to be made accessible in its current "boxed" state, upon application to the appropriate collection personnel with the Witte Museum.
Unfortunately much of the Hertzberg Collection is in really poor condition after years of neglect. The majority of the original paper items are so deteriorated that they have turned to dust. Debbie Walk at the Ringling Museum was brought in to do an assessment of the collection in San Antonio at the closed museum and she related this information to me. It is really a shame, as the collection had some extremely rare materials. I use past tense with regret.
