From Mike Naughton

lipizzaners, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

John Herriott mentioned the Lipizzan Show in a recent post.

I don't know if this is the same company he was associated with, however the Gary Lashinsky Lipizzaner Stallions will be appearing at NYC's MSG next week. This ad has been appearing in the New York Times.

The three top tier ticket prices are: $125., 80., 40. That doesn't include "facility fee" which is today's term for the "war tax". So a family of 5 with 2nd tier tickets will be shelling out $400. plus the war tax, parking, refreshments, pre-show and post-show meals. Any more expensive and pretty soon you can buy your own Lipizzaner.

Good seats available as late as showtime.

In 1997 I visited the world famous Vienna Riding School in Vienna, Austria. It was a real thrill for me, recalling the Disney movie "Miracle of the White Stallions", one of my favorite movies when I was little.

The building itself was magnificent, pure white with golden chandeliers, not a grain of dirt out of place on the perfectly manicured floor. And the horses- there aren't words to describe them. Days before I visited, they had opened a new museum on the grounds in the original stables, many of the displays in the arched concave brick stalls.

I only know a fraction about horses compared to many, but an artistic eye allowed me to appreciate every line of these incredible horses. I've never regretted my efforts to be a good tourist while on the road.
