Barnett Bros. Circus early 1930's #4

Scan000010303, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Menagerie top in 1933, in the foreground are "Junie" and "Della" and in the background, "Alice" and "Gyp" formerly with Sun Bros. Circus and Johnny J. Jones Carnival.
This was "Della's" first season, bought from magician Howard Thurston while "Junie" was Ray Rogers first elephant, purchased in 1928.

The Great Thurston (not to be confused with well known Gibsonton magician "The Great Thirsty") no doubt had a "vanishing elephant" among his illusions.

Ah yes . . . the Great Thirsty! King of the one-liners . . . and editor of the Boozo News, 1984-85 on Kinoshita Circus in Takarazuka City, Japan. Those were the days!
