Seal Bros. Circus 1937 #1

Scan000010238, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Looking through the 1930's mud show pictures, I always thought that Bud Anderson had the best looking rolling stock and equipment.
These pictures taken in Savannah, Illinois, June 13, 1937 by an unknown party.
Here we see the front end before the side show banners were up.
The show was sold to Parker and Watts the following winter but by 1939 Mr. Anderson was back in business with the Bud E. Anderson Circus.

Wasn't Savannah, IL the home of circus enthusiast Frank Goldquist? Maybe he was the source of the photos.

According to Luke Anderson, he was the person that suggested the Seal Bros. title to his dad.

Later, Luke cut a great deal for the former Tom Mix Circus trucks. He got a break from the dealer because he'd have to cut off and scrap all that apparatus that the previous owner had put on it. Right. He was a sharp guy, really knew how to make a buck.

Luke always stopped by our place every time he came to Florida.
I never knew until his last visit that while down here he also attended a gathering of his WW2 Flight Crew.
He was either a nose or tail gunner (I forget which) in B52 Bomber.

Looks like 2 food concession tents
and maybe a pit show. I assume that the garbage stand was off to the right to get the blowoff. That is a very large dog in back of one of the cars - show dog or townie?
