Saddened to learn of George Hubler's passing.

He once told me that as a youngster and finding that the Ringling Show was coming to town, he wrote Terrell Jacobs a letter asking if he could meet him. In no time he received a glorious reply from the "Lion King" whose letterhead had scroll down one side of the page and the message read, "Dear Mr. Hubler, I would be delighted to meet you and if you are at the crossing in the morning my car is Number......"
Sure enough, the day came and George found himself standing on the vestibule knocking at the door, you could imagine Mr. Jacobs surprise to learn that George was only thirteen years old.
Undaunted, Terrell escorted him to the lot, took him for breakfast in the cook house and seated him in front of the center ring at the matinee.
A testament for two great Showmen!

The word I received is that George had returned home and mentioned to his wife that he was tired and didn't feel well.
When she returned to the room a short while later, he was slumped over in his chair.

George Hubler's "winky blinky flashlight" pitch will live on forever.
