Tom Tyler

SAVE0260, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Watched a movie yesterday "San Antonio" and there was Tom Tyler, one of the great Western heavies of all time. Not only was he gunned down by Errol Flynn but met the same fate at the hands of Gary Cooper in "The Westerner" and John Wayne in the bar room shoot-out of "Stage Coach"
He will always be remembered as the mounted Confederate Officer in charge of the evacuation of Atlanta, confronted by Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind".
And in "Drums Along the Mohawk" he was the last of the stragglers returning to the Fort and delivered the line to an anxious Claudette Colbert , "There's no one alive behind me!"
This is one of the publicity photos he brought to Barnett Bros. which my mother managed to acquire and color.
The next three photos are of other cowboys also featured with Barnett/Wallace Circus.
