Finale

Scan10166, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

I was once told that I didn't have to make finale if I didn't want to since Axel or Hugo never did but I demanded, "What! And not receive my accolades?"
I did skip it on move-out nights tho. If all went well, we might have the elephants half way to the train by the time Finale rolled around.

Buckles,
Do you have that wardrobe?

My first year with GSOE, when Irvin Feld was explaining to me what I was to do for finale, I joked that a former aerial superstar told me I didn't have to do finale. Without missing a beat, he looked me in the eye, and said, "he's not here anymore, do you want to not be here anymore?" Without missing a beat, I looked him in the eye, and said, "I would like to go around twice, if you need me too." Wade Burck

I sure do.

It seems it was always the case with Trudy & I, if we were closing the show with the airplane there would be no finale. If we were only doing the cradle for the cage tear down we'd have to sit on our butts for 2 hrs. waiting to do finale.

Close but no cigar. Barbara is almost hidden behind me.

From Eric:

Some trivia on the music used for the 108th Edition's finale: a fragment of "Entry of the Gladiators," "Once a Year Day" (from the Broadway musical "The Pajama Game"), "Oh, You Circus Day," and the “I Love A Circus, A Three Ring Circus” song heard during in the opening.

While the cannon was being rolled into place, the band played the Main Title music from "Star Wars." (The original film had only been released the previous year and this was the first time that its theme was used during a Ringling performance.)

Following the cannon shot, the band played a fanfare, adapted from Richard Wagner’s opera "Das Rheingold" that had also been used for the cannon act with the 100th Anniversary Edition.

This reminds me of "McHales Navy" when they began waving and smiling. Obviously no one told the actors to begin waving and smiling

Gary, you did good, except that is "Maria" in front of Shane. She worked the elephant act with Ted. Karen
