Bronx Zoo #3

Bronx Zoo Elephants, Wild Asia.1, originally uploaded by bucklesw1. The third picture is from the Bronx Zoo's Wild Asia Exhibit. It is the current home to the Zoo's three Asian Elephants. It is the only place in the Zoo now where you can view elephants. To see the elephants you must take ! the Bronx Zoo's monorail, the Bengali Express. The elephants are only viewable from the monorail for a few minutes. A while ago, in an interview, William Conway, then General Director of the Bronx Zoo, said that in the future zoos will be known as much for the animals they don't keep, as for the animals they do. In light of the number of zoos that have chosen to end their exhibiting of elephants, including the Bronx Zoo, Mr. Conway's word were prophetic.
