From John Herriott

Buckles; I would advise you and your blog that our daughter Laura Herriott Ortiz recently had major surgery at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center here in Sarasota-Bradenton. Her mailing address is, 7804 Barr Rd. Myakka City, Fla. 34251. Her mixed animal act on Kelley-Miller is being capably presented by her daughter Jennifer and her overall animal DEPT. supervised by her husband Fernando. With thanks to the owner and management of Kelly-Miller Circus for their understanding and cooperation. Thanks, John and Mary Ruth Herriott.

Thank you John for telling us about Laura. When I saw her in Maryland, the day before she left for Florida, she did not say she was having the surgery, but that she was going home to be with another family member having a major operation! Now I know why nothing was said in the blog before about anyone else in your family!

Know she is in our prayers and thoughts.

All the best to Laura Herriott. Just caught Kelly Miller a few hours ago in Plumsteadville, PA and Jennifer filled me in.

John,
Thank you for letting us know about Laura and our best wishes for a speedy recovery for her.
She is a real trooper following in you and your dad's foot steps.
Had a great visit with her when Kelly Miller opened in Hugo. As a new era in circus history started when John Ringling North II took over the reigns.
Please keep us posted about her.
We really enjoy your input in this great blog and thanks for taking your time to do this.
Harry

John: As I read your note about Laura, I literaly was in the process of writing a story for the upcoming Bandwagon about Junior Ruffin in which he mentioned that Laura assisted him with the big elephants in the ring at Hoxie Bros.--was it the '72 season? He said you broke and worked the baby elephants that Hoxie Tucker had bought. Junior also said you were the ringmaster/performance director that season and that Laura presented American Anthem.
I first met Laura when she was on the Beatty-Cole show in Albany, GA, in 1999, and have followed her career since. All our prayers and thoughts are with Laura and the rest of the Herriott family. Lane Talburt

John/Mary Ruth...Not good news about Laura. Hope her recovery is complete. I am sure Jennifer will do the usual great job all Herriotts do in presenting the act. I will get a card off today and wish with your family for the very best result. Fondly...Paul Ingrassia
