Absolutely correct. From front to back are "Christy", "Carrie", "Babe", "Shirley" and "Emma" being led by Steve Fanning. Christy, Carrie and Shirley were named for Big Bob Stevens wife, sister in law and daughter.
Jim cole, Yes your photos are fantastic and very well done and I also would like to know what camera you used and the film type. They look alot to me like Kodachrome slides??? Dave, look to the right of the 3 sheet date and in the middle of the building in the middle window looks like a 1/2 sheet date. I asked a trooper that was on the show why did it close as it was a very large circus almost the size of Beatty Cole. His answer was they all had young wives??? His exact answer not mine. Harry
I asked a member of The Cristiani Family why the show folded - The reply I received was that the family was hiring prople to fill jobs that they themselves should have been doing. Maybe some other factors were also involved but this family member was very adament that this was one of the main reasons for failure. And that was a Cristiani answer.
Harry, I was a wide eyed 10 year old kid in 1957. Those photos came from various fans in the area, Ed Tracy, John Cutler, Larry Crocker, and Charles Perry. Yes, the color photos came from slides.
I was 15 when I took my first circus photo, using my dad's Kodak 127 camera.
It was during this period I was in the Air Force station at Andrews Air Force Base. Big thrill was watching the mighty Cristiani Circus set-up on the Old Benning DC lot. I had a thing for Vickie Cristiani and would visit the show at length just to see and visit Vickie. And, Oscar wearing his sunglasses always had his eye on me. Marion, mother and Oscar were great about my visits....Great People and memories...Buckles, I became great friends back then with the Rossi boys...The Rossi that later became a pilot was station in the area and was always invited to our Bumpsy Anthony Tent parties...Maybe next time I will tell the Pampa Cristiani rehash ticket story.
Jimmy Cole, Thank you so much for the answer on the camera and film. Your photos inspire us all about the circus the way it was. Thank yuo so much for sharing them with us circus fans. I always carry a camera to the circus as the circus makes history every day. No one day is the same. I to started as ah struck kid and I loved the circus. Now I shoot color stills and also shoot Kodachrome slides for the colors as Kodachrome will not fade. Film is cheap so I shoot away hoping to get a few good ones out of hundreds. I have about 1000 rolls of Kodachrome in the freezer for circus shots. Jim, keep those great photos of your's coming. Harry

I would imagine that these were Oscar's act, consisting of the four which originated on Bailey Bros plus Emma, the newest addition.
Norma's five were probably off playing Tom Packs dates.
I hope everyone noticed the nice three sheet date just about ten steps off the parade route.
