Jules Jacot was 80 when he worked a small group of leopards and two lions at the Peoria IL Zoo in 1970. (Left St. Louis after the 1969 season.) He died in January 1971.

Swede Johnson worked lions in his later years but I don't think as long as Jules. Anybody know for sure? I know he was a clown on Ringling late in his life.

i am Jules Jacot's grandson. I am awed by his perserverence. There is nothing like being 80 years old and still in a cage with lions. You must do what you love until you die.
