This fantastic tent was used in 1953,1954 and part of 1955. It consisted of 8 kingpoles and 12 queen poles (fitted with bale rings and hand winches), there were quarter poles also between the queen poles. Chipperfields travelled a second set of 8 kingpoles which they would build-up in advance, to help quicken the pace. I believe they were the largest circus in Europe during this timeframe. Later on, canvas sections were taken out and it toured with 4 kingpoles and 8 queen poles. Cyril Waite was tentmaster. Jim and Jim, help me out if I've missed anything. Erik Jaeger
