If you turn the picture slightly so that the houses in the background and people are in an upright position it looks like the setup is in a gulley and that could be why everything is so compact.Think photographer had camera cocked to one side slightly.

Though it is partially obscured by a tree, when this photo is enlarged you can see an attractive grandstand ticket wagon on Sparks for many years. Its origin in the first years of the 20th century is obscure but it was on Martin Downs Cole Bros. through its last season of 1909 before being sold to J. Augustus Jones for his, and later Tom Wiedman's, Buffalo Ranch Wild West. When sold at auction in early 1915, it went back to Jones who used it on his larger flat car shows of the late 'teens before he sold it to Sparks. A few changes in the center carving were made during Jones second ownership period. The wagon met the same fate, unfortunately, as all the other Sparks wagons.
