Buckles, A further check into my files confirms this date to be correct for Sparks in Newport. Jimmy
From John Polacsek
I tried to send this to the blog, but after two mis-attempts decided to send it this way.
The 1930 Sparks Circus played June 16 - Pawtucket, R.I.; June 17 - Newport, R.I.; June 18 - New Bedford, Mass.; June 19 - Plymouth, Mass; and June 20 - Taunton, Mass.

That hand writting is that of John Cutler, a well known Newport circus historian, who passed away in 1979. He may well have been the one who took the photos. I'm quite certain that there would be more photos in that 1930 Newport Sparks series. Seems like there was a photo of a blling hit for that date that was in the Bandwagon some years ago.

John Cutler's negatives were acquired by Ed Tracy of Rhode Island and after his death, they were purchased on behalf of the Circus World Museum at the estate auction. Therefore, any additional images should be available at Baraboo. Dick Flint Baltimore

I am familiar with the Cutler negative collection, I'm the one that located it after John passed away in 1979. Through the years, Ed Tracy loaned me the negatives to make prints from.
John Cutler however had either sold or loaned some of his negatives (some to the late Jay Beardsly), as the 1930 Sparks set was not included in the Ed Tracy collection. Also missing was a 1938 Cole Bros. series, also shot in Newport.
