Great pictures! The big overland wagon shows were headquartered in the south and the leaders in this group in the early 20th century included M.L. Clark out of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Haag, for most of its years based out of Shreveport. And, in Texas, was the legendary Mollie Bailey show that toured for generations and never left the state. These shows generally also toured in the winter months and, as the late Swede Johnson told me, provided employment for many a show person who was unable to save his or her money during the regular season. Charles Hunt's autobiography is a great account of the trials of these small wagon show and its transition to a truck show.

Yes it is a great photo, but was wondering about the two fellows out front working in the street? Have the stripped suits on with one of their coats hanging on the fence. State or county issued. Putting in a water main????

Buckley used this type of labor to clear the land in Tennessee. Not like the FREE labor she gets now from volunteers. "ARE WE HAVING FUN YET?"
