Two sea lions from Emil's act are now part of Marco Peters excellent "Sea Lion Splash" show at fairs and sport shows. They're the only two Patagonian or South American sea lions in the US.

Are they a larger species?? cc

Marco Peters name sounds real familiar. Did he work a cage act at one time?

Bob...
there was a bloke by the name of Marcel Peters that worked one of John Cuneo's cage acts on Vargas in 1982. That ended in Hollywood when Tony Tiger put Marcel in the hospital with a good chunk or two missing. Next time I saw Mr Peters was in Australia. I don't know if Marcel and Marco are related.

Marco Peters and his brother Phillip did a double wheel act on Ringling. They used 2 tigers in the wheel.
Marco then presented a Jim Clubb cage act with lions and tigers on Ringling

The brothers are featured on Ringling's video, "The Most Death Defying Circus Acts of All Time."

Patagonian sea lions are a little larger than California sea lions usually seen in the US. Roby Gasser's Adolf, the big sea lion that Roby did a handstand upon, was a Patagonian. Harrisons also had Patagonians on RBBB, I think in the 80s.

I remember Marco wanting to talk about filtration and other fish husbandry when I visited him when he worked the cat act on RBBB. The next yeat he and brother Phillip took out their shark show.
