Buckles, What a great set of photos you have on today! They enlarge very well to fill the screen, and one can see a lot of detail. Perfect for the Circus Model Builders!
This Cole Bros advance car is somewhat deceptively numbered as # 1- The Cole show never had but one rail car on the advance- the number 2 "car" was a motorized brigade.
But in the distant past there were a few shows that had as many as FOUR advance rail cars arriving at various intervals before show day.
Ringling-Barnum had three such cars into the 1920s and two into the 1940s. 1955 was their first year not to have a rail advance.
I should remember this, but I don't. What was the last year under canvas????
AGAIN, WE HAVE ANOTHER FINE SET OF PHOTOS, OF WAGONS FROM A BYGONE ERA, FROM THE WOODCOCK COLLECTION.
MANY, MANY THANKS BUCKLES!
I THINK I COULD LOOK AT THIS STUFF, 24 HOURS A DAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
