Note the big black jaguar on the pedestal in the upper right. You can tell by the massive head and heavy body compared to the smaller black leopard on the other side with its noticably thinner head.
When Court first toured he worked only one of his two black jaguars at once. The other was held in reserve though it traveled with the show.
When I saw this act in 1941-42-45-47-48, I was unaware that two of the black cats were jaguars. I thought they were leopards, so unlearned in animal subtleties was I at the time.
Court's leopard act did not go on the road with RBBB in 1942 and 1943. Instead it was with Hamid Morton Shrine circuses in early 1942 and then later that year it went to the Goodman Carnival. Because of his deal with RBBB Court could not put his name on the act in those venues.
The next year, the leopard act was with RBBB in the Garden and then was on the Spangles show in the Garden after which it went back to Sarasota.
The leopards with Damoo Dhotre were back with RBBB in 1944 and 1945, went to Sparks in '46 and then to RBBB for 47-48-49. After that it went to Cirque Amar in France.
