This would be the large poster display in the wagon pavilion at Circus World Museum. Unfortunately, this was never a good way to display or preserve these rare and magnificent posters. When I worked at the museum in the early 1970s, mold was beginning to grow on the posters but constant exposure to light and the stress of weather changes continued to take their toll. At least someone has documented the image. Thanks, Paul! With all the concern about the museum’s recent difficulties and whether it will have a performance this season or a great parade in the future, we should be equally concerned about the care and preservation of the collection in addition to access to the library that has re-opened.
Because this poster survived long enough, we have benefited by knowing more about McDermott’s ancestors. This is a good example of why the preservation and study of history is valuable, indeed enjoyable, for all of us.

Fantastic! I knew he was a winner!
Was this at the Circus World Museum or the collection at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn?
