 I think this pic must show Gentry Babe and Wilhelmina that Tom Holbrook asked about. As you see this was taken on Luke's Wallace and Clark in the early fifties. Don't know who's working the act but doesn't that guy at right resemble a certain mayor of Baxter Springs who bottled Coke in Joplin on the side? Whitey "You are right all the way around". Buckles  |

A wonderful fan, friend and benefactor of so many circuses and circus people. Took color photos and movies when they were quite rare. Paul Van Poole.
You guys may recall Claude Poe who lived on Vermelle Street, Hot Springs. His brother Jake Poe had a used furniture store downtown and Claude was a billposter for years around both Bud and Luke, the Hugo shows and finally Beatty-Cole.
Anyway- Claude used to call Van Pool the "Circus Clearing House." Claude said if you had any tidbit or gossip that needed immediate distribution, just write Paul and he would see that it that it reached all parties.
I also know that Paul let more than one trouper have a few bills and sometimes he had to eat the markers. I know of one pretty big name who never did pay him back. And Paul didn't tell me that, I found it out by accident on the other end of the deal.
