Lee Bros. Circus 1943 #2

Obviously the matinee is on since the side show bally platform has been moved across the midway in an attempt to obstruct a few people on the blow off.

"With Kelly-Miller in the 50's, this practice was still being done and as the crowd exited they were greeted with Dutch Narfsky holding a long handled meat fork with a chunk of bloody beef and Mel Lewis would yell "Feeding time in the menagerie!" and as Dutch headed inside Mr. Lewis would then say, "Follow the man with the meat!".

Seems to me I remember that the Beatty-Cole opry used to do this in the last 50's and very early early 60's. Always had a fire eater to flash the midway and the stage was used as a squeeze. After Roger Boyd Sr. became the announcer, he would always kill time at the end of the show by telling the crowd that because some of them had arrived late, the side show would give one more full and complete performance. Listing all the famous side show performers of the past and usually included George Dickel the wonder worker.

Why does the "follow the meat" remind me of what one trainer mentioned a few weeks back? Know who I mean girls?
