From Pete Sturgis

Brett, George and Larry Carden with "Bo"

Elephants at Madison Shrine Date: All Carden elephants:
The Mighty BO - 19 yrs old
Cindy
Judy
Betty
Tory
Dutchess
Janice
Didn't get the ages on the "cows", but I'm sure you all ready know who's who/what's what.

Show line up was real strong, as usual George Carden style, of recent years, although I really can't recall when George has ever put in a weak show, especially in Madison! I'll leave it to some other person to do a full review/line up!

No flying act or wire act, which he's had forever. It was kind of nice, to not have these type acts, for a change! There was plenty of show to compensate! Show ran very well - 2hours 32 minutes, including 38 minute intermission. They did cut 3 ring display, in the second half, as well as elephant act (3) because of the close proximity of the next show. People really didn't notice, or cared.

Alot of "high tech" lighting, and a new laser on the way @ a cost of 85K, I'm told. Music still on computer/tape/CD/whatever. Was appropriate for most acts.

Buisness was brisk, on Saturday! We finally got a "break" in the sub-zero weather we had been having! Friday night - 3/4 house, Saturday - 1st show, full house. 2nd show - SRO, 3rd show - strong 3/4 house. Sunday, no report, but i'm sure it was quite a profitable weekend!!!

All rides were $6.00 a copy, except elephants were $7.00. Had 5-6 elephants on come-in, intermission, and usually 3-6 on "blow off". Pony rides: 1 come-in, 2 intermission, 1 "blow off". 2 inflatable slides, 1 moonbounce. All this of course, is just what was on the "floor". Oh yes, forgot to mention face painting, as well.

All in all, an enjoyable show to visit! Got to see friends Davide & Susan Zoppe, with monkeys & dogs, that have been on Carden a few years now! It's a great place for them to be, and George treats them very well!

Well, enough useless info, for now! I'll contact you, from the road, as things happen, if they happen!!! Computer goes wherever I go! It's what I wake up to, practically!!!

My regards, to all!

For those of you who care. the ages for those elephants are as follows:

Larry's herd:
Bo-20, Cindy-45, Judy-50, Betty-38

Brett's herd:
Janice-45. Tory-44, Dutchess-45

George also has 3 more elephants who I assume are being worked by Ramone Esqueda on Jordan World Circus. These elephants are:
Jenny-42, Bimbo-51, Vicky-46

Does anyone know what George's tour is looking like the third weekend in march? i would love to see his show.

the empress leota was always good even if she was really a duchess and not an empress. royalty is still royalty.

Henry, I think I love you!!!!!!!LOL Your right about "Cindy and Dutchess" Now if we could just get "Margaret and Rebecca" together we would have one hell of an elephant act. Elephant Sandy could be our leader. I forget sometimes that I am a good many years older then the other girls and the elephants too. You guys think you have jackpots????? You don't want to be near us once we get started.
