This is off topic, but I'm looking for info on an Elephant by the name of Jewel(She went by another name as well, maybe Buckles you might know). She was part of Axel's herd. I plan on visiting both the Red & Blue within the next month and was wondering if anyone knew where she is.
Sincerely, John Darragh

"Jewel" was among the 20 baby elephants imported by the Ringling Show that arrived in Sarasota the summer of 1954 ($2,000 apiece).
Her original name was "Cutie" but was changed in memory of "Barnes Jewel" who died late the following season.
She was still on the show in the late 1990's.
Punks were: Siam, India, Calcutta, Mysore, Cutie, Trixie, Luna, Lucy, Henry, Betty, Cass, Mo, Mary, Eva, Pinky, Suzanne, Fannie, Jean, Adele and Rajee (all females).
