I was hoping you might have more detailed information pertaining to the Ortonville Circus which would stay over in Ortonville...just East of Adel and West of Waukee Iowa. Besides the specific location most associate it to....I know that a little way northwest of the present site there used to be several buildings that reportedly belonged to the Orton family (and a now lost road in the woods) leads off to the west. I was wondering if you know anything of what once stood in this "now cornfield" or had any old pictures that might have shown any buildings/roads??I look forward to your reply!Sincerely, Michael Schlueter (Orton Bros. Circus Winter Quarters 1927. Everything looks freshly painted and loaded, indicating they are about to embark on another tour. This was a typical Overland Show meaning that horses pulled the wagons from town to town and the elephants and camels walked as well.) Buckles |

The way the wagon wheels are painted it must be a K.N. version of a sun burst without the burst. I wonder if they used these to parade with?
Interesting you would spot that.
My dad always enjoyed pointing out to my mother, that the Orton Show used farm equipment rather than circus wagons.
However I'm sure he was aware that the heavy railroad show wagons would be ill suited to be drug through the muddy back roads of Iowa.
