I think one of the elephants might be their male elephant indy. In the asian stud book they got indy from smokey in 85. Is this in 85?
The elephants are "Siri" "Indy" and "Romani" Romani came from Remo Christiani in 1984. Indy sired 4 calves with Romani. only 2 are still alive. Emmett which now resides at the Whipsnade Zoo and Kirina is still at the zoo in Syracuse.
Did the Indy elephant at one time belong to Neil Franzen, Wayne Franzens brother?
Did Smokey train "TARRA" for carol buckley? Way before she got holier then thou.
Somebody did, I'm sure it wasn't her.
Anyone capable of training and maintaining an elephant would not have found it necessary to become a fund raiser.

Mr. Doyle is the director in charge of the syracuse zoo now
I believe that Ms. Buckley was a part of the female animal handling contingent of the recently deceased Bucy Steele in her introduction to the Wonderful World of Elephants and then transferred at some period in time for the training of her elephant and of course Smokey's general consouling for a female foreign to the field, whatever that means. Maybe in her distant memoirs she will recognize them for posterity. I hope so.

Tarra was trained by Smokey, Tarra went to African Lion Safari to get bred with Buke, she has not calved to my knowledge, but I am pretty sure she aborted a calf.
Carol initially trained Tarra, poorly, then went to the first elephant school to have Smokey train her. Of course she did not maintain what she learned there. Tarra did abort a female baby. Carol has said that Tarra almost died too. (Carol has been known to exaggerate.)
