The more that I've thought about it over the years, the more I'm convinced that Zack Terrell didn't always get the credit that deserved from people who viewed Jess Adkins as the "Genius" behind Cole Bros in the 30's. Terrell went in the more experienced circus boss, though Adkins had been hugely successful with Hagenbeck. Mostly I think they had Beatty, and both Cole and Robbins Bros were great Corporation style shows, very popular with the public. Terrell's success in getting Cole Bros through the war years after Adkins' death says a lot, since he did it without the political clout that Ringling enjoyed before Hartford. I'm not sure that any of the old circus bosses could have done any better in the post-war era that doomed the railroaders. By the 50's the "Geniuses" were seemingly settled in places like Cleveland and Hugo.
