Bobby Gibbs Revisited #1 (From the Jim Cole Collection)


If I could be granted one wish, it would be to have Bobby return to earth and deliver a 5 minute critique on the John Davenport, John Pugh, John Ringling entanglement.

I'm guessing Bobby has amassed great power on the other side of the veil and actually sets these things up for his own amusement. I'm certain it was Bobby who slipped into the draems of young Ms. Feld and whispered, "Build the Blue Unit around a house cat act/ They'll call you a f@#%ing genius."

Great Comment: Bobby's still making us laugh and I'm sure he'd be pleased. I called him after he had had a heart attack and had a few stints implanted. We talked a bit about this medical status (rather grim) but by the end of our conversation he was telling stories and brightening our sprits. As we said good bye he said,"glad I gave you a laugh."

I think he wished he could be another Johnny Herriott. I've seen high school photos of Bobby and he never was going to have the Col.'s appearance in the ring. He did become a beloved figure of circus friends and fans. He was a unique man of his time who's persona lives on.

How special is this Blog? Where else do Clyde Beatty and Bobby Gibbs get equal billing?
