Olga Astley #3

Mother used the name Olga Astley until she married my dad, Freddy Yelding, also from an old English Circus family.

This talented lady reminds me of Barbaras mother. There is a real cute picture floating out there of her working with a baby elephant "QUEENIE"

i think Sue Lenz deserves a big thank you from all of us for the wonderful pictures she has supplied and I am looking forward to seeing more. All of us can reflect on our roots and am so pleased that Sue has proudly done just that, as I am of mine. We have done alot of general commenting around her photo collection and I am as guilty as anyone in not relating directly to the subject. The dog and pony photo could easily parralel a photo of our backyard over the years. She must have been quite a person working with such a variety of animals and I must admit its pretty good stuff. Some of those tricks and routines are pretty impressive. I always like to say that I have been with everthing from Crazy Paul's Tent Show to The Greatest Show On Earth and that is a fact. For years I have enjoyed the fun and fellowship of Billy Baker and the Baker boys, George Scott, Derrick and so many others and mostly talking about the little shows and the trials and tribulations. Seems the big time stuff wasn't as important. Our family gatherings have all centered around the tough times and we laugh until we cry. Did your mother live to see your success in show biz. Both Buckles and myself lost our fathers at the age of 59-60 and were not able to see us with GSOE or other achievements, but certainly their spirit has been with us. I am so proud of the photos I have of my family during that same period of time as I can see you are and look forward to seeing more. Thanks Sue and maybe I can apologize a little for so many of us.

Thank you Johnny for you kind words. My Mother passed away six years ago in UK. I managed to bring back with me quite a lot of photo's of hers from the 1930's to 1970's, Some interesting ones I sure you would enjoy seeing are of the riding act with Bertram Mills Circus with my dad and some of his brothers (Yeldings) and the Bakers, Sadly my Dad walked out of the Circus ring in 1960 and died in the backdoor, It was a great shock at the time as he was only 56 years old, But what a wonderful to go... So like you and Buckles my Dad never knew that I would one day be with the GSOE but my Mother came over a couple of times.
At the time of his death I was with Bertram Mills Circus with first husband Norman Barrett and had my Pigeon act then.
