Ernest Schumann and a few of his New Horses.

ERNEST SCHUMANN was born in British India. He is rated as one of the world's greatest horse trainers and has specially prepared a new act with new horses for this engagement. Ernest has a particular partiality for London, in considerable measure due to his big success here but principally because he was married during an Olympia engagement; he and his horses have come direct from Gothenburg, Sweden.

It is interesting how things can happen in only a couple years in this business. To explain; The winter of 1923-24 the American circus corp. brought Ernest Schuman to Peru during which time he trained two twelve horse liberty acts and two or three high school horses. He had the windows of the ring barn whitewashed and the only people allowed in to assist him were bareback rider Rudy Rudinoff, his wife Erna and a cowboy Ed Davis. From there Rudynoffs had a remarkable career as horse trainers. Schuman did open with these acts with John Robinson, he and Rudy working the two liberty acts. He did not like the American circus type operations and at seasons end returned to Europe. He was then around seventy years old. Another Schuman would come back to America when Katja came to the Big Apple and would bring her father Max. No doubt Ernest would be the grandfather or Great grndfthr. So its interesting that in about a year he would be at Olympia.
