Barnett/Wallace #1

Most of these picures from Ross Hartzell, unfortunaely I'm still having problems with my computer and several are incomplete, I've asked Shannon to check this out for me several times but to no avail.
This one baffled me at first, the elephants didn't look right, until it occurred to me that this is probably 1934, the season they leased the "Ranch Herd" from the defunct 101 Ranch Wild West Show. At years end they were purchased by Adkins and Terrell for their forthcoming Cole Bros. Circus. If you click on this picture, it will enlarge somewhat.

The way things are going, looks like I will have to approach my Banker, (Mrs. Woodcock) regarding a loan for a new computer.

This photograph reminds me of the "Chevrolet" elephant poster that was used by Al G. Kelly - Miller Bros. Circus in the 1950's.

I wonder if the artist used this photo as a model for the poster?

Let's all write to Buckle's Bank and urge that the loan be approved!

I finally shamed Shannon , no easy feat, into checking out the computer. After a ritual of electronic voodoo he decided that others are having the same problem. Everyone has problems to some degree, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

It had been mentioned that a memorial service for Fred Logan would be held sometime after the season in Sarasota. Have you heard anything further on this? Last I heard the memorial and celebration of Fred's life would be held the weekend of the Showfolks Circus.
Thanks

I see no hands walking beside the elephants. Not even the Captain. The guy leading the camel sure looks like Bert Pettus. Odd to have the camel in front of the elephants unless they were herd bound to the camel being together all the time in the menagerie and the elephants would get a little skidish if the camel were no around and that would make sense that Bert would be leading it for a little insurance.

I must confess about the camel and elephants and being the anonymous commenter, but stranger things have happened and we in the trenches are familiar with herd bound. But my main comment is that in a setting where the elephants appear to be comfortably marching along would be the wry comment of Col. Bill Woodcock Sr. [JUST LIKE bROWN'S COW.]

I had to ride in a NOVA convertable[?] in the parades Kelly Miller had. It was their new model. It had an air cooled engine and stalled every parade from going 5 miles an hour. Over heated. Being called TARZEN was a memory along with the youth who shot me with a pea shooter.

I agree. That does look like a young Bert Pettus. He always favored that style of cap. Maybe Sandy could tell us for sure.

I need to clean my glasses, I didn't even notice the damn camel!

I did not see the camel the first three times I looked at the picture either.
