OSCAR ALWAYS WORE SUNGLASSES. ONE NIGHT IN COLUMBUS IN THE THREE RING ELEPHANT NUMBER, RIGHT BEFORE WE WENT IN, BOBBY GIBBS PUT SUN GLASSES ON ME AND HIMSELF. OSCAR NEVER NOTICED AND I AM SURE THE AUDIENCE WONDERED WHAT IN HELL WERE THE ELEPHANT TRAINERS DOING WITH SUNGLASSES ON.

Can you just imigian what the blog would be like if "BOBBY" were still with us? Everybody has a "BOBBY" story to tell about the storys "BOBBY" told. I think I would have loved him like everyone else did.

Speaking of Bobby, here's an idea. Just for grins, you could declare a "Bobby Gibbs Day" (or even Week), post Bobby photos and solicit Bobby stories.

It would be a hoot!

Speaking of Bobby Gibbs,I never will forget the tinme in Chillicothe,OH some of us took Bobby out to and all you can eat style restaurant. To start with he was doing the front end Rat Show Carson & Banrnes and didn't have much time. When we go to the restaurnat there was a long line of people. Bobby told a couple of the people that they had had left their cars light on. Well, that took care of those people. They sat us next to the salad bar and that was a huge mistake..You can just picture the number Bobby did on that poor slad bar....Prior to our departure Bobby had everyone within hearing distance cracking up over his jackpotting stories.....Needless to say as we were leaving the entire Food Staff was restocking the salad bar...I think some day I will write a book of stories relating with famous people that I have eaten with...It would have to start with Bobby Gibbs, Tommy Hanneford and Jim Hetzer..The great ones..

On occasion, we used to eat at the Paul Bunyon "pitch til you win" restaurant in Wisconsin Dells.
An establishment from which Bobby had been banned, similar to a "card counter" in a Las Vegas Casino.

My daughter's, now in their 30s, both recall getting hauled to the local "pitch till you win" restaurant after a call from Bobby to come over and jackpot. They were probably 7 and 8 at the time -- old enough to be mortified by some of Gibbs' behavior. The Gibbs entourage consisted of Bobby, Cucciolo, Carden groom Shortie, and a young fellow missing several teeth -- none of them attired like a model from GQ. Bobby's stories entertained tables around us for quite a while. Our girls kept an eye out for any school friends that might seen them. The evening ended with Bobby showing the girls the elephants and then, like Santa Claus, he was off and away.

The girls were around "Uncle Bobby" since they were infants. I think they probably regarded him like a thrill ride, you wondered what was going to happen next but were left with a smile and a tale to tell.
