Anonymous said...: After my knowledge Shenka never travelled outside Germany or in another circus then Circus Alberti. It is possible that the circus performed in neighbouring countries but for sure never around the world.

Buckles said...: You are correct. "Joe" is indeed with Circus Krone. Gene Holter acquired him from the Los Angeles Zoo in 1971, he was pretty big already, and offered to sell him to me for $500 but I passed. He was eventually sold to Circus Vargas in 1973 where he was trained by Wally Ross.
