Barbara is lucky. When I was with Mr. Beatty, some act photos were still being taken for his book. Some local news photographers shot from around the cage also. I'm bound to have been in some of these, but not one source has been productive in finding them. I was never in a posed shot like this one...so, aside from one shot of me working his tunnel, there are none of he and I in the same frame, at least that I know of.
Being born in 1971, I never got the chance to see the "Mighty Beatty" in person, my reference of him is through his books, movies, posters and hanging around the "Beatty-Cole" lot during the Logan years. No doubt he was great. Last month my kids and I were watching "The Big Cage" and my 6 year old was so taken with seeing Beatty in action he asked me to help him put a book together. So we printed and copied a bunch old pictures I have, put them in plastic sleeves and a three ring binder. He took it to school for "show and tell". He also renamed his iguana Clyde. Now tha is greatness that defies time!
