Sig Sautelle's 9 Big Shows 1910-11 #2


Not a bad tip for the matinee enjoying the the side show bally.
Right away you can tell that this is an overland show (mud show), the wagons are smaller and lighter with higher wheels allowing the chassis to clear the ruts and gullies as they are drawn from town to town.

Looking at this shot, I have to remember what Emmett Kelly wrote in his autobio, CLOWN, about his time on Mighty Haag. He mused that unless you were on an old-time wagon show like Mighty Haag, you had never really travelled with a circus.
