Rex Williams Elephants #5

"Reed" giving the children the thrill of a life time.
We used to walk the elephants to a huge boulder about a hundred feet away which we circled and returned to the loading platform. To the complaintants who stated that the ride was too short, I always politely pointed out that it was the novelty of having ridden a living elephant, those wishing to travel a vast distance should call a Taxi Cab.

Buckles, you’re right that riding an elephant can be a lifetime thrill. That reminds me of a message I posted on your blog a few weeks ago. Because I sent it a few days after your original posting, I’m not sure if you read it so I’ll repeat it:

I’d like to offer my book on Dan Rice to anyone who gave me my first elephant ride on Anna May in ’76 and who years later graciously welcomed me to his trailer on the Big Apple lot in NYC, even though it meant interrupting the Miami-Boston College game on TV in which Doug Flute threw his famous “Hail Mary” pass to win.

The first was a short but thrilling gift, the second was impressively gracious. All who fit these criteria and would like a copy of my book, please contact me.

I'd love to have a copy. Should fit right in with my collection of circus books.
