Polar Bear act #1

"Ursula Bottcher takes a stroll with a furry friend in her spectacular polar bear presentation which headlines the 110th Edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus."

Received a large number of Ringling publicity photos from John Goodall which included these timely pictures of Miss Bottcher. You will notice that her name is sometimes spelled "Bottcher" and at other times "Boettcher". In conversation, Trolle Rhodin pronounced her name as "Bercher".

A Beautiful photo ;
Miss Bottcher & " Ajax " !

This act was as pristine as an animal act could be , in every way .

A lesson in German language, the correct spelling is Bottcher, German has a little thing called an "umlaut"(spelling?), it is two little dots over a vowel which changes the pronunciation and is very difficult for us. If you pucker your lips and say Bottcher, you might come close.

The german spelling is Bottcher (with little dots on o,of course), but it was a stage name...In fact, her real family name was Blutchen.
I don't know the reason of the changment.
