This is a good trick, the balls don't require tracks since they are working on a dirt surface.

He is the famous Gerhard Quaiser. You probably remember him, at least in picture, for his famous cycling elephant. Was quite bizarre to see the elephant slowly moving on his enormous and heavy tricycicle,with this oriental-costumed trainer. And frankly, the trick was not so impressive.
But was quite a sensation for the publicity. In France it was the headline for Cirque Jean Richard in 1978, drawing a lot of audience to the circus.
