Now this is beautiful. That piece of crap that person is wearing on the blue unit can not compare to this. Even if it is red/white and blue. Think maybe this blog is a wake up call to Kenny? Nah, It the cash register. You have to spend money to make money. Her spending went in the wrong direction. All those specialist she hired was the biggest mistake. Circus folk know circus , we don't have to be specialist. We are just special any way you want to put it about the circus. We learned something after 200 years. Sometimes the hard way.
Wonderful 100th Ringling 100th anniversary photos. The lovely lady portraying Jenny Lind is, of course, Dora Foster, "The Remarkable Rogana," who was one of the featured acts that season.
The 1970 100th Edition was a Spectacular show. But 1970 was also the beginning of the Super-size Spectacular Souvenir Programs. I think Jack Ryan wrote it (or most of it). This may sound silly. But the 1970 Souvenir Program offered an extra dimension and helped you appreciate the magic you had just seen during the show itself. ToddP
Thanks, ToddP. Yes, I wrote almost every word of the 100th Anniversary program book (even a lot of words that were attributed to other people! But let's not get into that.)
I was allowed to spend a week in Baraboo with Bob Parkinson and Chappie Fox to perform the required research. With Bob's help we found and reproduced many, many photos of circus greats of the past from the CWM collection. In portions of the program, we tried to compare/contrast them with current performers. It was a huge but fascinating project and, yes, the first of the "super sized" Ringling program books of that era.
